Training Resources
Learn how to help people identify their strengths and achieve their goals with a variety of specialized mentor training programs. “Talking it Through: Communication Skills for Mentors” is an online, interactive program that helps mentors develop strong interpersonal communication skills to build rapport and establish trust between them and their mentees.

“Ongoing Training for Mentors: Twelve Interactive Sessions for U.S. Department of Education Mentoring Programs” offers ready-to-use training materials that each last between 45 minutes to an hour. These activities help mentors build upon existing skills and build confidence in addressing a variety of obstacles that may arise during the mentoring process.

Mentor Wellness
Being a mentor is socially and emotionally draining. In order to continually provide the best level of care to their mentees, it is imperative that all mentors pay close attention to their health and follow a personalized wellness plan.

“Eat Well Stay Active Have Fun: A Guide for Mentors” helps mentors balance their own health and learn how to integrate these fundamental habits into their mentoring relationships. A variety of activities that mentors can do with their mentees is addressed with a strong emphasis placed on nutrition and fitness.

The “Growth Mindset for Mentors Toolkit” by Stanford University provides mentors with a framework to help mentors set new goals and achieve greater results in their mentorship programs. The program is comprised of 17 lessons that guide mentors on a learning journey and help them cultivate a growth mindset they can apply to every aspect of their lives.

These resources, among others, will help mentors continually improve their skills and see positive results from their work. As mentors, it is vital to embody the same positive approach to learning and goal-setting that is promoted to mentees.
